PETg is an amorphous polymer (also known as glycolised polyester). The glycol modifiers reduce the brittleness of PET (polyethylene terepathalate). PETg is popular in the market place as customers look to this plastic when producing “environmentally” friendly products. This polymer is 100% recyclable as it consists of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and is “inert” when used in landfills.
Inherent Properties
PETg has excellent impact strength similar to that found in polycarbonate. It has very good thermal and dimensional stability characteristics with low shrinkage. It does not stress whiten when bent or formed. It has exceptional transparency and clarity. PETg is also chemical resistant. Low gas permeability and thermoforming versatility makes PETg ideal for food and medical packaging applications.
CET Capabilities
CET Films can corona treat 2 sides of our film within our extruding process.
Our process capabilities allow us to introduce additives at the extrusion line – for outdoor applications we recommend using a UV stabilized PETg. This polymer’s main characteristics allows it to process easily. It can be die cut, guillotine cut, laser cut, saw cut, routed and drilled with no burrs. It does not stress whiten when cold formed.
Inline extrusion lamination allows us to laminate film while we are extruding another film. The end product produces a 2 layer construction. If the application warrants a third layer we can send the 2 layer combination thru our process again thus creating a 3 layer construction.
Form and Function
CET Films are available in gauges from .002” to .020”. Material can be provided in rolls or sheets up to 64.5” wide. Surface textures include – velvet/matte, velvet/polish, velvet/fine matte, matte/polish, matte/fine matte, matte/fine velvet, brushed/polish, and polish/polish. Custom colors are available in transparent, translucent and opaque. We have the ability to emboss patterns directly in our films. Our emboss process produces a cleaner, crisper and more secure image. Our in house converting department allows us to offer custom sheeting and slitting to your specification.
Applications
Our PETg films are well known and widely recognized as the first choice for signage, packaging, POP displays, machine guards, face protection, vending machines, confectionary molds, orthopedic parts, components for medical equipment, medical packaging, customer packaging and secure packaging.
